He just isn't very interesting and when he acts selfish he isn't as redeemable as his father. The only weak element is the titular son of Zorn, Alan. He actually goes through a lot of character growth in the season. Zorn's like an overgrown frat boy, but they don't make the mistake of making him a total jerk. Not to say the title character isn't a lot of fun. The MVP is Tim Meadows as the eternally good-natured Craig who deals unusually well with Zorn's shenanigans.
